Dr. Madhu S. Panigrahi, Joint Director, Tariff & OSD to Commissioner, Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission, Bhubaneswar addressed the PGDM students on September 5 and shared insights on life in corporate world and also elaborated on the power sector in Odisha.

He shared an overview of the Indian power sector as well as in the state of Odisha. He also underlined the structure of power distribution system and governmental regulations w.r.t. power distribution. He explained the forward vertical integration in Odisha power supply sector to enhance power distribution efficiency. Emphasis was given on structure of the organization, annual electricity output, electricity distribution as well as the strategic implications of various government regulations.

The guest talk made the students more aware of various developments in power sector, operational aspects and some ways on how strategic decisions are generally taken.

Dr. Madhu concluded by quoting “Strategy is a subject where one has to take into account every little detail in the organization, even the small deep ones”.
