WEBINAR ON CAREER IN THE SPORTS INDUSTRY

 

‘We don’t get paid much in sports’ is a myth. ‘If you do well, work hard, you will be paid well’ as said by our guest speaker Mr G. Srinivvasan.

The sports industry in India is one of the fastest growing industries and has a lot of potential. IMI-B in collaboration with SPORJO (sports +jobs) conducted a webinar exclusively for IMI-B students on 16^th September 2020 with the intention of inculcating knowledge in students about the sports business industry and its opportunities. The speaker Mr. G. Srinivassan (a sports industry stalwart with 20+ years of experience and associated with ISL, BCCI, IPL and ESPN ) briefed students about the Indian sports ecosystem which has 100+ companies in different sectors such as broadcasters, data and analytics, content development and media agencies, corporates, etc. and followed by explaining job opportunities in this sector having over 30000 jobs . He provided insight on career options of over 20 verticals such as operations, sales, CRM, marketing, finance, data analytics, etc. to name a few. Then he enlightened students on critical skills required for working in sports industry which include passion, understanding of sports and sports business, networking and communication skills, hard work and having a solution-oriented mindset. He stated that a career in the sports industry will be achieved through passion, personality and proficiency. At the end he talked more about his company SPORJO and how it would help students make career in the sports Industry. There was a Q&A session in the end in which a lot of students asked questions related to the sports industry. All these insights and knowledge were like gems for students. The webinar was very engaging as the students participated in full spirit.
