ANALYTICS CONCLAVE




The Analytics Conclave was held on 19th November 2022 and the initiative was taken by the Vishleshan Club. In this conclave, we had eminent speakers who shared their knowledge with the students of IMI, Bhubaneshwar.

VINAMRA VISHEN

(Vice President- CX Analytics at ZEE5)

He discussed the use of data in the business world. The appropriate data can aid businesses in comprehending consumer behaviour patterns. He continued by saying that students should choose their analytics courses carefully and not enrol in them blindly. He also talked about data democracy. In addition, he used the phrase "Data Literacy" to stress the importance of everyone being informed of how to share any type of data on any platform in this era of data explosion. His main emphasis is on demonstrating that data is an asset, a product that can aid in both increasing revenues and making future customer-centric decisions.

Satyajit Dwivedi

(Director, Global Practice, Process Sensor and IoT at SAS)

Mr. Dwivedi went on to clarify that placing data into the appropriate context would be relevant after talking primarily on the evolution of data. He puts several points in emphasis.

1) Automation of analytics

2) Data democracy

3) Democracy with analytics.

He said that organisations need to be prepared for change since the world will soon witness a futuristic perspective on data analytics. Speaking further, he noted that following the pandemic, every industry has transformed, including banking, travel, manufacturing, and working practises. He also discussed the value of analytics in managing the digital age. Overall, he emphasised the need for businesses to become more data-centric in order to expand and better understand consumer behaviour.

 

GAURAV SHINH

(Founder and CEO at Daaslab)

Mr. Gaurav Shinh, founder and CEO of Daaslab was one of the speakers at the Analytics Conclave where he discussed in detail of the challenges faced by him at his workplace when he had to implement analytical tools. Mr. Shinh even shared his views on how the pandemic had contributed to the booming of Analytics. He quoted by saying that “Data will be the future supply chain.” There won’t be any exchange of physical assets and he also mentioned how blockchain enabled technologies like Data exchanges etc. The way the future of businesses is enduing it will be seen that it has become more network-based. He also gave an example of how the ATM industry is going to disappear within next five to six years, as payments will be completely collected in digital format. In conclusion, he advised the younger generation to be 100% sure before pursuing a career in analytics. His choice of words were- “Only go ahead and make wise decisions if you are passionate about analytics. Overall, it was an insightful lecture, and the students learnt a a great deal.

 

 

DEEPAK SHARMA

(Head of Analytics and Insights of Google Operations Center)

Mr. Sharma stated on data science that it is currently being used at the business level and is no longer a buzzword. He explained that by gathering information, businesses want to improve consumer experiences by learning more about the positive aspects of their products. He also shared a tip about the importance of closely monitoring the firm to see if results are reappearing after implementing analytics. He also discussed the contributing factors to the market's need for data scientists, including the growth of e-commerce, e-medicine, software businesses, online payments, etc. He gave specific information about the effects of COVID-19 on the workplace. Finally, he shared some of his wise words with the students, telling them to always solve complex problems in life and those who wanted to pursue an analytics career should start out gradually rather than launching themselves headfirst. Additionally, he inspired them by highlightingthe opportunities available for data scientists and data analysts.

 

 

 

RATNAKAR PANDEY

(Head- Data Science & Analytics for CX at Amazon)

In his discussion on the use and gathering of data using cookies and third-party applications, he mentioned the potential harm that cookies can pose to a customer's privacy. He claimed that the data currently being gathered from B2C can be extremely useful to the company.

He also discussed the business lessons that have been gained by the business from the pandemic. He emphasised the three main points.

1. Reduced overhead

2. Customer needs                                                                                                                                            

3. Customized goods                                                                                                                              

In relation to the main skills for the analytics industry, he talked about:

1. Critical thinking and Python coding abilities

2. Communication and presentation abilities.

 

 

 

RITESH JAIN

(General Manager, Head- Data Science & Campaign Management at TATA Plat Limited)

Mr. Jain discussed the resources that AIMC makes available for crucial data. He also recommended some analytics courses for students to take, emphasising practical learning that is connected to the business world. He discussed about the current and future potential of technology and how it has made it easier for businesses to understand customer preferences.
