FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ON EMOTIONAL INTELLEGENCE



“A person who is in touch with his or her feelings will have a stronger chance of effectively leading those he or she is responsible for leading”.

Keeping the above in mind, IMI-B conducted Faculty Development Programme on Emotional intelligence (EI), an engaging session on various technical aspects of EI in collaboration with AICTE ATAL Academy. It was a “5 days’ faculty development programme” from 18th to 22nd January 2021 with the intention of inculcating knowledge among participants about EI. It was inaugurated with Professor Ramesh Behls’s welcome speech and was carried further with the sessions of professors from IMI Bhubaneswar.

“To be an effective teacher it is necessary to have strong subject knowledge along with ability to know the students well. That’s where emotional intelligence comes into play. Empathy for student and trying to understand the emotions of learners is very important” said Prof. Ramesh Behl, Director of IMI-B. Speakers of the sessions included Prof. Bindu Chhabra, Prof. Pallavi Pandey, Prof. Kapil Pandla, Prof. Devesh Baid and Prof. Rohit Vishal Kumar who focussed on EI’s relation with success rate of students. They also talked about Neuro Linguistic Programming, a psychological approach that involves and analyses strategies used by successful individuals and apply it to reach personal goals. Vijay Nalgirkar, Director of Nirmala Devi Sahaja yoga world foundation and Mataji Nirmala Srivastava added insights about achieving Emotional Intelligence through Sahaja Yoga through seven major chakras in the human body- Shsastrara Chakra , Agnya Chakra , Vishuddhi chakra, Haridya Chakra, Nabhi Chakra, Swasdistha Chakra, Muladhara Chakra. All these ideas, tools and insights were well appreciated by participants.
