Lohri Celebration

Lohri Celebration

In the heart of Bhubaneswar, the IMI campus buzzed with festive cheer as they celebrated Lohri! The air crackled with excitement as students, faculty, and staff gathered, dressed in their brightest colours. A grand bonfire, the symbol of Lohri, roared in the centre, its warmth chasing away the winter chill. First came the puja, a reverent offering to the fire with peanuts, sweets, and prayers for bountiful harvests and good fortune. As the flames danced higher, traditional Lohri songs filled the air, their lively beats drawing everyone into a circle. Young and old alike swayed and clapped, their laughter echoing through the night. Delicious treats like gur (jaggery) and Verdi (brittle) were shared, sweetness spreading along with the warmth of the fire. Stories and jokes were exchanged, creating a tapestry of shared joy and community. As the night deepened, the bonfire embers glowed, reflecting the happy faces around it. With full hearts and warm memories, the IMI family bid farewell to Lohri, carrying the spirit of togetherness and hope for brighter days ahead. It was a celebration that transcended cultures, reminding everyone that joy and warmth can be found even in the coldest winter nights.
