ODISHA & MAHARASTHRA TRAIL OF FOOD AND LANGUAGE

There is no Country like INDIA, which is as multi-lingual, multi-cultural and diverse, yet bound together by bonds of shared traditions, values and culture. “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” (EBSB), a programme for systematic exchange between paired institutes of several states was announced by Hon’ble prime minister on 31st October, 2015 on the occasion of the 140th birthday anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.

IMI B conducted a half-day event for EBSB to promote and showcase Campus diversity in collaboration with V.E.S Institute of Technology, Mumbai. A webinar was conducted on food, language, and literature of Odisha and Maharashtra on 19th September 2020. On one hand students gained knowledge about various key facts associated with Odisha such as Odia language [6th classical language in India], Utkala Deepika [the first Odia newspaper], and also about traditional oil less and palatable cuisine, on the other hand the webinar connected students with the history of Marathi language, music and the spicy Maharashtrian cuisine. It started with an inaugural address by Dr. Supriti Mishra, Professor, IMI-B and Prof. Geeta Ajit Kar from V.E.S Institute of Technology, Mumbai. This was followed by students’ presentation from both the institutes, where students deliberated upon the culture, traditions and practices of these two states. The VESIT TEAM of V.E.S Institute of Technology also organized a quiz for the participants. Prof. Pallavi Pandey, coordinator of EBSB club of IMI-B, also presented her insights about the future association with EBSB Events and concluded the engaging webinar by giving thanks to Prof. Ramesh Behl, Director of IMI Bhubaneswar, and other team members
