Orientation programme 2017-19

The whispers of the new world came rushing down to my ears as I entered through the gates of IMI. It was 12th June and my first day in the MBA college. It would be a journey of dreams I thought, The first task at the hands of the new entrants to visit the programme office where we registered ourselves for the course that we were about to take up.

After registering, we were called upon for an inauguration session, where the Director Professor Ramesh Behl gave a rousing speech about the importance of hard work and determination and told us the story of this campus and then as the Indian custom is he along with eminent faculty members and our honored guest lit the lamp, which was symbolic of the ever shining light of knowledge and perseverance.

One By One all the faculty members introduced themselves and we all cheered with the joy of getting a wonderful faculty. After that, there was group photograph in the amphitheatre area. Everyone was rejoiced to meet the new people and I suddenly found myself gathered among strangers, strangers who are going to be my close friends in the coming weeks. But then Bindu Ma’am held an ice breaking session to help our stranger selves mingle among us. The day was not over yet after Lunch Prof. Bindu Chabra gave us a brief introduction about the programme after that we had an interactive session with Prof. Sourabh Sharma. After that, we met all the staff member of the administrative block. The next day started with an interesting session on Economics, Accounting and how Attitudes can help us in an organization. After the various interactive session with the industry leaders, the second day of our orientation week ended officially, back in the hostel, the seniors invited us for a game of volley ball, and that’s how we mingled with our seniors.
On the third day, different sessions were held on various topics, which included a session on values and ethics and a SIP experience was shared by our seniors.
We were asked to prepare a performance as part of our talent hunt programme to be held on the last day of our orientation programme. So we made teams among ourselves and then started to practice for our performance during the evening after the classes.

On 16th a movie was showcased for us, the Movie was money ball, an interesting concept of building a team using the statistical methods. And on the 17th June, the last day of our orientation programme. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the talent hunt programme in the evening, but before that, we got to meet our alumni who were working in prestigious organizations and were climbing the ladder of success. The time that everyone was waiting for came. My batch displayed an overload of talent in various categories like Dancing, Singing, Acting and even poetry. Everyone gave a rousing performance for that talent hunt.

So our orientation week got over with the celebration. We celebrated the new life and our new home for the next two years.
