TEDx IMIBH

 

IMI Bhubaneswar organized a TEDx event on Saturday, January 28th, 2023. The event began with a speech by our Director, Professor Ramesh Behl, in which he highlighted the journey of IMI Bhubaneswar.. He conveyed the message of never giving up and always being ready to face challenges, as life is full of ups and downs. He emphasized that if your journey is plain, then you are dead.

Govind Krishna Das

“Realism, spiritualism, & Beyond”

He began his speech by singing a spiritual song and then delving into the true meaning of spirituality. He discussed the difference between knowing everything and remembering everything. He also highlighted the decreasing average lifespan of humans over the four yugas, and the problem of stress and anxiety among the youth generation. He emphasized that achieving fame and recognition is not the only thing one should strive for and quoted Maslow's hierarchy of needs, stating that people should focus on achieving mental peace and consider ‘hope’ as their best friend for a happier life.

Anushree Das

(Entrepreneur, Social Reformer)

“Transition to pre-eminence”

She discussed her social work focused on addressing menstrual problems among women. She emphasized the importance of breaking taboos surrounding these issues and acknowledged that change can be difficult yet necessary. She also highlighted the importance of mental well-being and offered ways to achieve it. Additionally, she discussed the "5 deceivers" of human life, which include the Judge, Victimizer, Protector, Ringmaster, and Neglecter, and stressed the need to be aware of their potential negative impacts on one's life.

 

Shruti Mohapatra

(Disability Right Activist)

“To learn not on the same day but on the same way”.

She discussed the power of education and its ability to transform a person's life. She focused on the challenges faced by people with disabilities, sharing her own personal story of losing her leg in a car accident in 1987. She shared how she faced rejection and demotivation from society, but ultimately became an advocate for the rights of people with disabilities, working to ensure they have equal access to education, sports and other opportunities. She cited several examples of people with disabilities who have exceeded expectations when given the opportunity. Lastly, she emphasized the important role of family, friends, and society in an individual's success.

 

Meera Parida

(Trans equal Rights Activist, Politician)

“Sailing through the pride storm”.

She shared her personal story of navigating the difficulties and discrimination faced by members of the LGBTQ community. She spoke about the resistance and prejudice she encountered and how it affected her life. She also highlighted the challenges faced by the LGBTQ community in terms of survival and respect and how society often exploits them. She discussed her own efforts to raise awareness and advocate for LGBTQ rights and shared some of the awards and honors she has received for her work, both nationally and internationally.

Abinas Nayak

MasterChef India Season 6 Winner)

“Culinary of cultures”

He spoke about his personal journey of experimenting with different interests and eventually finding his passion for cooking. He highlighted how this led him to become a winner on the cooking competition show MasterChef. He encouraged the youth to pursue their passions and suggested that by doing so, they will achieve success. He shared his wisdom on success and happiness, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging and celebrating small successes in order to find happiness.

 

Sayan Chakraborty

(Youtuber, Author, Entrepreneur)

“From Good to Great”

He discussed the concept of avant-garde and how it relates to our thought process. He provided examples of successful figures like Ratan Tata and Satyajit Ray and offered insight into what contributed to their success. He also distinguished the difference between being good and great and provided strategies for achieving greatness. He also quoted that "Success is the biggest addiction anyone can have it always demands one after another."

 

Rupesh Mahore

(Physics Researcher & Innovator)

“Far From Equilibrium”

He discussed the world of science and highlighted his innovative work in the field of physics, specifically in the area of synchronization emergent phenomena. He provided examples to illustrate his points and discussed his invention of the oxyserve, a device used to address oxygen deficiency. He emphasized the importance of empathy as a tool for innovation and encouraged the audience to be creative and view challenges as opportunities for improvement.

 

Ileana Citaristi

“Life Through Rhythms”

She shared her personal journey of leaving her conservative family in Italy to come to India and never going back to her home country as she found what she was always looking for. She emphasized the importance of self-discovery and becoming a good person who helps others. She explained the benefits of aligning oneself to the spiritual aspect of life.
